Since 1742
History.
After almost 300 years of history, Häppy Life may help continue this special place.
The fifth mill in the Gründelbach valley.
Before 1816, the place was a grain mill owned by the Philipp Alt family. From 1846 Sebastian Alt was the owner. In 1872 he sold it with plans to build a steam mill, but these plans were not realised.
In 1878 the mill was continued by Hermann Jakob Frembgen from Cologne and later by his son until it closed around 1900. From 1892 to 1914 the property belonged to a haulage company.
Hermann Jakob Frembgen had a licence for a tavern with a shooting range from 1878. From 1887 it became a coffee, milk and wine tavern, later also serving bottled beer.
In 1901 his son built a new shooting range and a bowling alley. From 1905 until the temporary closure in 1914, the Gründelbacher fair also took place here.
From 1926 the Dorn family ran a wine tavern with guesthouse. After an auction in 1934 Josef Braun became the new owner. In 1936 the restaurant with guesthouse reopened.
In 1949 Josef Braun received the full licence and from 1955 a campsite was established. In 1966 the business was passed on to Hermann Sutter.
On 15 May 2015 the lovingly maintained property was handed over to Fred Worm. In March 2026 it was handed over to Sebastian Krautkremer. Since then the place has been developed as Häppy Life - Rhein Camping Loreley.
